Meet Sofie Ramos! LightSource now hosts an artist residency, and Sofie is our inaugural resident.
Squished: Sofie Ramos
Opening Reception: March 29th 5-7pm
The show will run through May 3rd
We provide an artist with an entire roll of paper to produce either a new body of work or continue to build upon a project that they have already begun. The artist receives studio space and the option to exhibit in our Studio 2W Gallery.
Hahnemühle is our choice of paper! They are the premiere company making the absolute highest quality of fine art papers.
About Sofie Ramos
Sofie Ramos is an installation artist based in San Francisco. Pulling from a dynamic hoard of everyday found objects and materials painted in vibrant exaggerated hues, her site-specific work responds and adapts to, fuses with, and adulterates its surroundings. Ramos was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, received her BA in Visual Art from Brown University and her MFA in Art Practice from University of California, Berkeley. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions in the Bay Area and across the country—including Mixed Greens in New
York, Fort Mason in SF and Johansson Projects in Oakland—and has been reviewed by Juxtapoz Magazine and KQED Arts. She was an artist in residence at the Growlery in San Francisco and at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park.
In establishing our residency program, LightSource is further committing to using the existing infrastructure we have built in order to support living, working artists. We want to continue to educate our community about the importance of fine art papers and fine art printing. It is our aim to continue to participate in the San Francisco arts community in a more direct way by facilitating a hands-on printing experience for the artists involved.
